Xi Jinping replies to foreign representatives of Global Young Leaders Dialogue

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday replied to foreign representatives of the Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD), expressing appreciation for their active visits to various parts of China to deepen their understanding of the country.

Just as you wrote in the letter, the Chinese people have built a rich and beautiful homeland, created a colorful culture, and realized their dream to live a well-off life, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said in his reply to the representatives.

“China is a vast country with a large population. To develop and revitalize, the most important thing is to base it on national conditions and follow its own path,” Xi said, adding that the new Chinese path to modernization is getting wider and wider, and China will better develop itself and benefit the world.

Xi encouraged the young leaders to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Recently, 36 foreign youth representatives from 28 countries wrote to Xi to congratulate the CPC on its 100th birthday, sharing their experiences and insights from their visits around China and expressing their hope of playing a bridge-building role to better promote exchanges and dialogue between China and other countries.

The GYLD is a program for young global leaders initiated by the Chinese non-government think tank Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies. It aims to develop a community to drive positive cross-cultural dialogue and communication for global opinion leaders from diverse regions, sectors, disciplines, cultures and professions.
